U of M is in the Solar Decathlon
Posted February 6th, 2008 by KalFunkSkiThe U of M has been accepted to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon in Washington, DC. We received a $100,000 grant from the DOE and the U has matched that with another $100,000. We are trying to raise $1 million total for the project which also must include a professional website. It would be amazing if you could help us build and design this website with donated time or discounted rates. Let me know if you are interested. The current website along with the Solar Decathlon blog and Applied Environmental Solutions (AES) website are listed below:

Minneapolis To Try Curbside Composting
Posted November 2nd, 2007 by jimFor a year-long test period, residents of the Linden Hills neighborhood will be able to put food scraps and other previously unrecyclable paper products out on the curb to be composted. 15 "Green" Buildings
Posted September 10th, 2007 by jim
10 Aug 2007
Green building has grown up, from a tiny movement of hands-on idealists
to an increasingly mainstream business sector that erects office towers
and research centers. Sure, the structures on this list aren't as
low-impact as yurts or straw-bale homes, but they represent green
building on a broader, more public scale -- where energy efficiency and
sustainably sourced materials come together to touch the lives of the
many rather than the few.

Urban Legends - Hummer vs. Prius
Posted July 6th, 2007 by jimNo, The Hummer Actually Isn't More Energy Efficient Than A Prius
Let's Put This "Debate" To Rest
Ever wonder where urban legends come from? ... How about this doozy: a Hummer is more energy efficient over its lifetime than a Prius. Like most urban legends, it’s hard to pinpoint the source. Was it an article by James L. Martin of the 60 Plus Association (www.60plus. org), a lobbying group for the elderly that desires to be the conservative alternative to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)?
Green Motorboats in Northern Ontario
Posted June 6th, 2007 by RoberrificAnyone that's ever seen the raw beauty of the Canadian Shield will understand why I like to document the glorious splendour of Lake of the Woods in north western Ontario. This is also why I take a special interest in the town of Kenora, which is the oldest European settlement in the region. This is also why I'm an environmentalist, and why I actively campaign for more government spending on climate change.
