We recently installed CFLs in our new home. I felt a bit guilty replacing a perfectly working bulb, but in retrospect that old incandescent bulb is wasting more and more energy every second it’s on. Even though the CFLs come with a bigger price tag the payback for these lights is tremendous and most consumers see their investment returned in less than a year. Many people I’ve spoken to about CFLs are concerned about the color or how they need time to warm up. The new CFLs on the market are very similar to standard incandescent bulbs and light up just the same when turned on. The difference is barely noticeable. These new bulbs need to be the standard for homes built across the world. The money saved and Carbon reduced in the atmosphere due to CFLs replacing the incandescent light will be tremendous.
